The Kassel ice rink, designed by Edith and Simon Kimm, was opened on February 19, 1977. The building was expanded in 1995/1997. The spectator capacity increased from 5,050 to 6,100 spectators.
The Kassel ice rink serves as the venue for the Kassel Huskies’ home ice hockey games and is used for concerts and other sporting events such as basketball and indoor soccer tournaments and Holiday on Ice. In the cold season, you can skate every day on the approximately 30 by 60 m ice surface, which is covered with foil for concerts and similar events.

The RP Group installed a total of over 300 RP products for the renovation :
- 180 safety lights from the IL series
- 120 emergency exit lights from the KDU series
- 15 safety lights from the ZAW series
